Monson State Park Fall Color Report for 10-8-20

Where to go
The crunch of fall is underfoot on the Monson Lake Trail. Park in the lot by the vault toilet and head out on the trail. Travel past through the woods, past dry fall wetlands and along the lake.

What you’ll see
Monson Lake State Park is a now quiet relic of tragic Minnesota History. See the presently peaceful site but read more about it’s history before visiting to learn more.

More tips
Monson Lake State Park is a site of the Conflict of 1862 between the US Government and the Dakota Peoples of Minnesota. Learn more by stopping at the interpretive signs and visiting the Minnesota Historical Society website: https://www.usdakotawar.org/
