Fishing Report for 8-18-20
Willmar Lakes Area fishing is picking up a bit lately. Those searching for walleye should fish during the first two hours and last two hours of the day when they are the most active. Trolling shad raps and dragging lindy rigs tipped with crawlers or minnows has worked well for many anglers. Walleye are being pulled from a depth of 25 feet from Green Lake near the Castle flats. Other lakes to try for walleye would be Eagle, Foot and Long in the 10-20 foot depths. Northern pike anglers continue to find active pike throughout the day on Eagle and Foot lakes. Spoons, spinnerbaits and large minnow baits fished in and around the weed beds have been very effective. Many panfish can also be found in and around the deeper weedlines in the evening hours on Nest, Henderson, and Point lakes. For steady panfish action, use leeches, nightcrawlers or wax worms on a small 1/32-ounce jig. Bass have been very active on most area lakes.
