Fishing Report for 3-2-21

As of the past weekend, the lakes were still in good shape for ice travel, but with the current warm temperatures and the expected warm up this weekend, ice will rapidly deteriorate. Anglers should expect ATV travel and walking to be the only ways to get out on the ice. Just a reminder to check ice thickness often since conditions can vary widely, even on the same body of water.

With the warm up, panfish have been very eager to bite, especially on Foot, Elkhorn, Diamond and Calhoun lakes. Panfish will soon migrate into the shallows so anglers can start checking the weed beds or anywhere the fish can find cover. Small tungsten jigs tipped with waxworms, spikes or plastics should turn lots of fish. During this time of the season, panfish are often in groups so anglers can catch a full meal or more!

This is the perfect weekend to get out on the lakes and fish before the ice fishing season ends!
