Fishing Report for 1-5-21
Happy New Year Anglers! Enjoy a weekend of fishing in the Willmar Lakes Area by foot or 4-wheeler! Most area lakes are sitting between 6-10 inches of ice. As the temperatures remain below freezing, we’ll have enough ice for driving on soon! In the meantime, anglers are pulling nice sized walleye from Foot, Point and Big Kandiyohi lakes. Northern pike have also been active on many lakes including Diamond, Ringo and Florida.
Minnesota residents with a fishing license may take, for their personal use, all species of fish in any quantity from Lake Wakanda now through February 28th. The liberalized fishing rules are in response to a lake rehabilitation project that will draw down water levels.
Please remember that ice is never 100% safe and ice conditions can change daily. Anyone choosing to head out should check the ice often. Learn more about ice safety.
