Fishing Report for 1-24-25
Ice fishing has been good on many of our area lakes with the average ice thickness being 17-20 inches. Stay clear of the aerators on the lakes as they can make the ice near there weaker. The walleye bite has slowed down a bit in the area, especially on Foot, Diamond, Green, Long, and East Solomon lakes. Crappie have been active lately, especially on Ringo, Diamond and Norway lakes, with the latter having an average of 11-12 inch crappie caught. When searching for Northern pike, try Nest Lake as anglers are reporting an active bite there. Crappie minnows and shiners continue to be the bait of choice this time of year. The local bait shops are a great source for the most up-to-date ice fishing information so make sure you stop at one when you’re in the area. Now’s the perfect time to plan that ice fishing weekend in Kandiyohi County!
