Fishing Report for 1-21-21

Most area lakes have at least 12 inches of ice on them, but there are some weak spots. Always check the thickness as you head out. A truck went through the ice on Norway Lake this week. The crappie bite on Diamond Lake has slowed down a bit, but is still going strong on Foot Lake using a minnow as bait. For Northern pike and crappie action, head out to Florida, Games, Green and Norway lakes. Those looking for the walleye bite should try Ringo and Green lakes around dusk or after 1am. Anglers have been pulling some larger sunnies from Elkhorn Lake this past week. Eagle Lake has been a great ice fishing location for most species of fish at about the ten foot depth. Fishermen are seeing the most success with clam plastics, wax worms and minnows. It’s going to be a great weekend to go ice fishing in the Willmar Lakes Area so stock up on bait and haul your ice house out (or rent one from the many recreational rental businesses in our area.)
