Fishing Report for 8-21-18
Water temperatures in the Willmar Lakes Area have dropped over the past week. With the shorter days and cooler nights, water temperatures should to continue to fall. Walleye anglers are taking fish from the 25-35 foot depth on Green Lake and along the weedlines on the shallower lakes. Darker water areas are also good when fishing shallower depths and breezy, cloudy days are usually best. The bass bite remains excellent on area lakes, as they move to the deeper weeds and outside edges of shoreline structure. Jig worms, drop shot and chatter baits have worked well in these areas. Northern pike can also be found along the deep weedlines and have been caught by trolled crank baits, casted spinner baits and rigged minnows. Anglers continue to catch panfish, especially sunfish, using small jigs with a minnow, plastic or piece of crawler either casted or under a bobber.
