Fishing Report for 5-7-19
Anglers are still finding active crappie in the Nest Lake bay, Lake Andrew, and Lake Florida. Sunfish and crappie are being pulled from Foot Lake near the culvert. When looking for walleye this weekend, stick to the shallow lakes such as Calhoun, East Solomon, Elizabeth, Lillian, Norway, Ringo, Willmar and Foot lakes. Main lake water temperatures remain extremely cold so anglers need to use caution and wear a life jacket. The fishing opener for the 2019/2020 fishing season is May 11th for walleye, northern pike and bass. For your convenience, J & J Highway 71 Bait & Tackle will be open 24 hours starting Thursday, May 9th at 7am and closing Sunday, May 12th at 6pm. They are fully stocked with river shiners, suckers, crappie and fathead minnows as well as leeches and green night crawlers. Stop there before you head out on your 2019 fishing opener adventure!
