Fishing Report for 5-23-17
The spring fishing frenzy is in full gear in the Willmar Lakes Area. Anglers are catching 20+ inch walleye on area lakes. The most active were Big Kandiyohi Lake, Wagonga Lake, Eagle Lake, Diamond Lake, Green Lake, Willmar Lake and Foot Lake. The walleye were generally more active in 8-20 feet of water. Anglers trolling the shallows after sunset or pulling crankbaits along the tops of the drop-offs had the most success. While most walleye have completed their spawn, the panfish are just beginning. Please throw back the larger ones so they can reproduce. Have a happy and safe Memorial Weekend! And feel free to post your Willmar Lakes Area fishing pictures on our Facebook page to let us know how you did!
