Fishing Report for 1-5-16

Ice fishing is picking up in the Willmar Lakes Area as the ice continues to grow. Currently the smaller lakes such as Big Kandiyohi Lake, Lake Elizabeth and Lake Wakanda have anywhere from 4-10 inches of ice. Eagle Lake, Diamond Lake, Lake Florida, Lake Andrew and Nest Lake are ranging 4-6 inches of ice and Green Lake has anywhere between 2-7 inches of ice. There have been reports of some nice walleye being taken from Norway Lake in the last week. Fishing has been happening on all lakes at all times of the day. Best bet is to keep moving till you find the fish and then they will bite. Hopefully the cold front moving in this week will build some thicker ice to make it safer for snowmobiles and ATVs.
