Summer Dreaming

By Lisa Aasen

February and March seem to last forever in Minnesota and we start to dream of summer and warmer days. Some of us go into hiding and wait out the rest of winter inside. Then there are those that are willing to go outside, braving

The Spicer 4th of July fireworks are a favorite of many in the area.

the snow, wind and freezing cold temps to make sure things “heat up” for summer!

The Spicer Beautification Committee, a dedicated group of Spicer Area locals, brave the elements to make sure our summertime is HOT and have already put together the 2020 summer season of Music in the Park. Running July 19th through August 23rd, a new musical attraction performs each Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Bands are paid for through a grant from the Southwest MN Arts Council and outside donations. Bring your family and friends! Music in the Park is a free, family friendly event held at Pirrotta Park in Spicer.

Be sure to “Save the Date” for Spicer’s 4th of July Celebration! The Spicer Commercial Club, area businesses and a huge number of volunteers that are fresh off the icy heals of the 2020 WinterFest Celebration are already in hot pursuit of summer putting the 4th of July Celebration together.

The West Central Wakesurf Open is a great event not only to participate in, but also to watch!

The Street Dance is July 3rd this year featuring the Fabulous Armadillos. Fireworks are at dusk on the 4th. The 4th of July Celebration is the largest celebration of the year in Spicer and you won’t want to miss it!

The planners of the West Central Wakesurf Open along with the Spicer EDA are already making waves and lining up the 2nd annual West Central Wakesurf Open that will be held June 26th and 27th.

Early planning during the coldest part of the year will mean HUGE fun in the heat of summer! Thank you to all the committee members who brave the winter elements to make summer dreams come true!
