By Trudie Guptill

Are you looking for a unique and unforgettable experience this summer? Then plan a weekend to enjoy the many artistic wonders of New London! This small town with New England charm offers an experience unlike any other with plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities, community celebrations, fine art displays, boutique shopping, exceptional dining and so much more.

Stop at one of several parks where you will find playgrounds, a swimming beach, picnic shelters, grills, a wood fired pizza oven and a sand volleyball court. Most Friday nights in the summer you will find the talented Little Crow Ski Team performing at Neer Park. Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, come to Holm Park and visit the New London Farmer’s Market – “Homegrown & Handmade” where our vendors sell great products like honey, bird houses, bird feeders, photo items, wood decor & other fantastic handmade crafts. You’ll also find fresh produce, jams, baked goods, candies & beef/pork products.

Stay at one of several amazing resorts or campgrounds nearby and enjoy over twenty lakes in a fifteen-mile radius, where you can partake in swimming, fishing, kayaking, boating or water sports. If camping isn’t your thing, stay at one of the area’s beautiful hotels. While in the area, check out one of the recreational rental businesses to rent a canoe, kayak, paddle board, or pontoon to fully enjoy the lakes! Delight in the many gorgeous views and art projects while you’re traveling in and around New London. You can also enjoy hiking, biking, and horseback riding along the many beautiful trails including the Glacial Lakes State Trail system.

On a rainy day come into town for some great shopping at one of our boutiques, novelty shops, quilt shop, book store or enjoy a spa day. Don’t forget to stop by the New London Bakery for all of your baked goods or just a treat. Visit our newest store “Lucky Duck” for a wide variety of toys, puzzles, games, gourmet popcorn, sweet treats and 24 flavors of hard scoop ice cream.

Catch some music at Goat Ridge Brewing Co. while enjoying a craft beer, seltzer or Root Beer by the Crow River. Or hit Alley on Ash for bowling and great food and drinks. We also have other restaurants, bars and coffee shops that will satisfy any craving.

New London Water Days is the town’s celebration that takes place the third week in July. Take part in a variety of fun activities including a street dance, parade, bean bag tournament, tennis tournament, sidewalk sales, ambassador coronation, fireworks, hog roast and much more!

We invite you to experience everything New London has to offer this summer!
