The Willmar Civic Center consists of three spaces: the Cardinal Arena (25,800 sq. ft.), the Blue Line Arena (16,000 sq. ft.) and the Events and Recreation Center (25,000 sq. ft.). During the fall/winter, the Cardinal and Blue Line arenas have a sheet of ice and are home to hockey, ice skating and curling. These arenas make a great place for shows and tournaments involving any of these activities.
The Willmar Civic Center is one of the largest outstate facilities with a seating capacity of 2200 (hockey season) and 4000 people for dry floor shows.
With a Full Concession Stand and 12 Locker Rooms, the Civic Center has two (2) regulation sheets of ice located in the Cardinal and Blue Line Arena. Recognized as a top notch Curling Facility, the Willmar Civic Center is home to the Glacial Ridge Curling Club, Willmar Warhawks- NA3HL Junior Hockey Team, Willmar High School Boys and Girls Varsity Hockey Teams, Willmar Christian Hockey League, WCER Youth and Adult Hockey, Diamond Edge Figure Skating Club and Open to Public Skating. The facility is also equipped with a Skate Sharpening Shop.
The Events and Recreation Center is a multipurpose gym and event space. The gym has the capability of 2 full size basketball courts, 2 full size volleyball courts, 2 full size tennis courts and 8 pickleball courts. Other amenities include an indoor playground, two meeting rooms, a community room, bathrooms and changing rooms, as well as a warming kitchen. The indoor playground includes a climbing wall and musical playground equipment, as well as a structure for children to climb on that includes slides. The indoor playground is open Monday-Friday 9AM-3PM and 5-8PM and is also open during major events.
Numerous dry floor events, expos, concerts and more take place inside the facility each year including; KWLM Spring Show, Willmar Rifle and Pistol Club Gun Show, West Central Builders Show, Willmar Ag Show and Ridgewater College Graduation.
