Sperry Park is a lively neighborhood park offering a little bit of everything. It features a large modern playground, six outdoor pickleball courts, and open green space perfect for picnics and play. The park is also home to Minnesota’s first outdoor Fitness Court, with bodyweight exercise stations and a space for group workouts. Bright artwork and a welcoming layout make it a popular spot for families, fitness lovers, and community events.

The Willmar outdoor fitness court, first of its kind in Minnesota, provides more than 2,000 square feet of healthy infrastructure. One half of the court features equipment at 7 exercise stations that allow users to use their own body weight for a complete workout. The other half of the court features a studio for classes such as yoga, Pilates, Zumba or stretching. The court was created for people aged 14 and over and with all abilities for workouts that are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace.

Willmar artist Sonja Madsen created the mural “Out and About” on the Fitness Court, showcasing people enjoying outdoor activities to highlight community diversity and connection to nature. The Fitness Court was funded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, the National Fitness Campaign, and Willmar Parks & Recreation.

Across the street, you can visit the historic Sperry House, built in 1893 by Albert and Jennie Sperry, who helped develop the area known as “Sperryville,” now Sperry Park. For details, contact Willmar Parks & Rec at 320-235-1454.
