A New WaterDays Special Event in Coordination with Little Show on the Crow
“Rumble on the River”
Wednesday, July 15th at 6:30pm
at Neer Park in New London
We’re seeking teams of 6 for RUMBLE ON THE RIVER: an off-the-wall, person-powered boat parade and relay race in honor of our beloved Crow River, the star of WaterDays in New London!
Here are the details:
Who: Businesses, Civic Groups, Non-profits, families, friends are encouraged to register, ages 21+ due to prizes awarded.
If popular, a youth division may occur next year.
What: A people-powered boat parade and relay race! Each team will consist of and be powered by 1 paddle board (1 person), 1 kayak (2 people) or 2 kayaks (1 person each) and 1 canoe (3 people).
The challenge, should you choose to accept it:
–Design over-the-top decorations and costumes that reflect a theme for your team.
–Choreograph a parade performance that leaves the audience in shock and awe.
–Participate in pass-the-baton style relay race – hilarious and family-friendly ruthlessness encouraged.
An esteemed panel of judges and the crowd will decide your fate – a fast team might not be enough to win Rumble on the River! Points will be awarded during the parade for decorations and a wow-factor element for an accumulative score.
When: This year’s RUMBLE is occurring in conjunction with Little Theatre Auditorium’s Little Show on the Crow, an outdoor concert series in Neer Park New London. It will be organized by both LTA staff and WaterDays committee members. The event will work in coordination with the Little Show live music performance for that evening. Expect a time frame of 6pm arrival, 6:30-7pm vessels in water/line-up during the first set of live music on the waterfront, 7:30pm RUMBLE with awards to follow immediately with a second set of live music to wrap up the night
So, what are the winnings–aside from epic bragging rights?
The winning team will be awarded:
–Grand Master Position (approx. spot 5) – of the WaterDays Parade on July 18th
–6 entries into the WaterDays Street Dance on July 17th
–The highly coveted Rumble on the River trophy
