Echoes in the Night: The Search for Jacob Wetterling is directed by Chris Newberry.

The Film Synopsis: In 1989, on a quiet road in rural Minnesota, 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling is abducted by a masked gunman. The case remains shrouded in mystery for decades, until a courageous sexual-assault survivor, a citizen journalist, and Jacob’s unshakable parents demand action. After the case reaches a devastating conclusion, they are all left to question what “closure” really means.

A Minnesota-based film crew spent a decade capturing the Jacob Wetterling story as its conclusion and aftermath unfolded in real time. The resulting documentary is a gripping and intimate look at how an unthinkable crime touched so many lives.

Echoes in the Night: The Jacob Wetterling Story is the first film selected for the Ideal Cinema film series, sponsored in part by Willmar Lakes Area Vision 2040. The New London Roaming Cinema’s Ideal Cinema series will be highlighting Minnesota based documentary films, directors and storytellers and will be featured quarterly at Little Theatre Auditorium.
