Fishing Report for 1-2-18

Ice conditions have been improving each day with the frigid temperatures. Most lakes now have 14 to 18 inches, but there are still some thin spots on the lakes. Always check the ice as you go. Norway Lake was a popular choice with a good amount of crappie and walleye being caught. Nest Lake was another busy lake with panfish and Northern pike being caught. Fishing around dawn or dusk seems to be the most active time for the fish. It’s very important to downsize your presentation during frigid temperatures. Try a jig tipped with a wax worm for the most fish during this cold snap. Anglers are currently using ATV’s to move around the larger wheel houses. This below zero snap should end in a week with vehicle travel then possible on most area lakes.
