Welcoming Week celebrates the growing movement of communities that fully embrace newcomer immigrants and their contributions to the social fabric of our country.

Lunch Bunch
September 11-15 | 11 A.M. – 1 P.M.
Join the Y Lunch Bunch and try foods from different cultures. Lunch will be offered Monday – Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. either at the YMCA or at a local restaurant. Register for the days you will attend at the Welcome Center.
Expand your palette further by using your Culinary Passport to try multicultural groceries stores, other restaurants, coffee/tea shops, bakeries, and more. Drop your full passport off at the YMCA to be entered into a drawing.
Culinary Passports are available at the YMCA Welcome Center.
Cost of any meals are participant’s responsibility.

Family Fridays – Family Fitness Dance
September 8 | 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Children ages 2-8 and their parents are invited to a fun night of multicultural dancing starting in Studio A and finishing in Studio B.

Willmar Event – Bubbles & Craft
September 9 | 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
A fun event for the whole family in downtown Willmar!
Location: Near the City Auditorium
No registration necessary

Kerkhoven Event – Bubbles & Craft
September 10 | 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Join the Y for a fun Kerkhoven Welcoming Event.
Location: Pillsbury Park
No registration necessary

BINGO
September 11 | 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
BINGO with a multicultural twist.
Location: YMCA (The Center)

Movie Night
September 14 | 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Bring a cozy blanket and pillow and make yourself and your family comfortable in the Small Gym for a Disney movie. We’ll watch Coco and enjoy some popcorn.

Family Fridays – World Obstacle Course
September 15 | 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Children ages 2-8 and their parents are invited to the Around the World Obstacle Course. If inclement weather, we will meet in Studio A from 5:30 – 6:30 pm.
Location: YMCA (outside, weather permitting)

Slice of Home Potluck & Recipe Open House
New Date – September 18 | 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Bring a dish from your culture and a story about your family or your childhood home to share with friends at the Slice of Home Potluck. Don’t forget your recipe for the Recipe Open House. You are welcome to share a recipe, even if you can’t attend by posting it on the Recipe Open House outside The Center.
