Marx Brothers, Buster Keaton and Laurel and Hardy all newly public domain films.
Keaton’s last silent film, Marx’s first film, and Laurel and Hardy finding their voices.
1929 is an interesting year in film, with sound becoming more used in film, but silent films still being made too. According to Wikipedia, the eight of the Top 10 grossing films were musical/comedies. Careers shifted and changed and power structures moved from the film stars to the film studios. We’ll have a lot to explore in the upcoming months.
