Enjoy Andrea Limoges’ live accompaniment to F. W. Murnau’s dreamy story of marriage, life, temptation, and heartbreak. Oscar winning for “best unique and artistic picture, Murnau uses visual effects to communicate his characters’ emotions.

SHORT FILMS
LIVE MUSIC: Nicholas Davis
Nicholas Davis performs an original live soundtrack withshort films: “Fluttering Hearts” (1927) and “The Life and Death of 9413: a Hollywood Extra” (1928).

“Fluttering Hearts” (1927) directed by James Parrott, and starring Charlie Chase, Oliver Hardy, Martha Sleeper and Eugene Pallette. Chase plays a helpful and friendly millionaire who creates an absurdist scene between a puppet and Oliver Hardy.
Genre: Comedy

“The Life and Death of 9413: a Hollywood Extra” (1928) co-written and co-directed by Robert Florey and Slavko Vorkapic. The film is a satire about how dehumanizing Hollywood can be to young actors with dreams. The film’s budget was $97, but creatively uses miniatures, shadow, an erector set, and closeups of live actors.
Genre: Surrealism, drama.

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS
Andrea Limoges has lived in Willmar for 9 years and plays piano, guitar, and other instruments. Currently works for hospice and gets the opportunity to peek at individuals and families “life playlists” and frequently asks do you have a preference for the sunrise or sunset?

Nicholas Davis is an electronic musician hailing from Minneapolis, MN. With an emphasis on improvised composition, they weave sound loops and hardware synthesizers to create moody, cinematic atmospheres. Nicholas’s sets are an immersive journey, characterized by sweeping soundscapes that transport audiences to otherworldly realms.
