We are excited to partner with the American Red Cross on Tues, July 27 from 9:00a-3:00pm to launch the first of what we hope will be many blood drives. We’ll be working together to give back to the community in a truly life changing way since each donation we collect can save up to three lives.
The American Red Cross will be following the highest standards of safety and infection control. In addition to our standard procedures, we have implemented additional precautions that you’ll notice at your local blood drive:
1. Routinely disinfecting surfaces, equipment and donor-touched areas.
2. We are spacing tables and chairs farther apart to help with social distancing.
3. All donors and volunteers are required to wear a face mask. A face shield does not count.
4. Temperatures will be taken before anyone can enter the blood drive which includes volunteers, donors, and staff.
5. As of right now we will not take any walk-ins to help control donor flow and social distancing.
6. Donors must show up on time for their appointments. If they are more than 15 minutes late they will be asked to reschedule. If they are early they will be asked to wait outside.
7. All donors need to do Rapid Pass before they can sign in. They get information e-mailed to them about how to do it 2 days beforehand. We also have tablets they can use a the drive as well.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
– COVID-19 Antibody Testing: The Red Cross is testing all blood product donations for COVID-19 antibodies.
-The Red Cross is not testing donors to diagnose illness, referred to as a diagnostic test, and a positive antibody test results do not confirm infection or immunity; a positive antibody test indicates potential prior exposure to the virus.
