March in Minnesota can bring about all kinds of weather…rain, sleet, snow, sunshine…and all kinds of temperatures. But we’re use to that, right?
So whether we’re looking forward to an indoor event or an outdoor event, we know to keep an eye on Mother Nature in case a “weather event” happens.

With that being said, we want you to be able to have the most accurate and updated event schedule handy to keep life simple, yet fun. Each month we plan to highlight some of the bigger events taking place in a blog and keep it as a featured post on our Facebook Page for quick access. We will always link to our full calendar to give you even more options for events and activities taking place in the Willmar Lakes Area.

For the month of March, we’d like to highlight these exciting events:

March 10-11th – Annual Novice Bonspiel at the Willmar Civic Center
Join the Glacial Ridge Curling Club for their 15th Annual Novice Bonspiel! Whether you’re participating in the bonspiel or there to watch, make sure you purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a 2023 Polaris Ranger XP 1000 Premium, a $5000 Vacation Package from Willmar Travel or ten cash prizes of $500!

March 11th – Latin Dance Night at the Little Theatre Auditorium
Learn to Merengue with John Salgado Maldonado of local non-profit, Purpose Artisans. John, a South American native from Chile, will guide us through some basic steps. Then after the session, try out your new moves to latin music. Be ready to thaw those MN winter hips!

March 17th – St. Patty’s Day Party at the Willmar VFW
Come celebrate the luck of the Irish with the band Strange Daze, a modern rock band from Minneapolis, MN!

March 17th – St. Patty’s Day Party at Cheers in Raymond
Come celebrate St. Patty’s Day with the band IV Play! This premier band will have you on the dance floor in no time! There will be an outdoor bar, tents & heaters but make sure to dress warm and wear green!

March 18th – St. Patrick’s Day Red Beard Run/Walk starting at Pirrotta Park in Spicer
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a run! After the race enjoy soup, sandwich and a beer. Beer will be served in a keepsake Red Beard Run pint glass. Pint glasses are available for the first 200 runners.

March 19th – Willmar Area Symphonic Orchestra Presents The River Concert
Come at 2:30pm to check out the K-12 Student River Project on display in the Art Gallery, visit the Hawk Creek Watershed Project booth, and register for the door prize to win a Taylors Falls Scenic River Boat Tour for two! Then enjoy the Willmar Area Symphonic Orchestra performing The Mississippi River Suites, The River and more! We hope to see you there for this unique concert!

March 24th – Indie Rock Night at the Little Theatre Auditorium
Enjoy this unique opportunity to hear three Indie rock bands!

March 25th – West Central Connection Chorus Spring Concert
The West Central Connection Chorus is singing all their favorites over the last five years! They will also be joined by Sound Image barbershop quartet, Kordal Kombat and Coulee Classic – barbershop quartet. Get your tickets today for this fun concert!

March 31-April 1st – Home & Outdoor Living Expo
Both arenas at the Willmar Civic Center will be full of the best local businesses and vendors highlighting the latest trends and innovations from home building, remodeling and décor to landscape design, party vendors to green energy, boats and docks, storage buildings, outdoor fun and adventure.
