February Fun Is Heating Up in the Willmar Lakes Area

Think winter is slow? Not in the Willmar Lakes Area! February is full of fun, with events ranging from live entertainment and outdoor adventures to Galentine’s gatherings and community celebrations. Here are just a few highlights of what’s happening around the Willmar Lakes Area this month.
February 7 – Frozen 5K Walk/Run
It’s shaping up to be a great year for the Frozen 5K Walk/Run! Enjoy a scenic winter run or walk around Spicer. Register online by February 6, or take advantage of same-day registration beginning at 8am if you decide to join the fun at the last minute.
February 7 – Galentine’s Bouquet & Brunch
Celebrate Galentine’s Day at Redhead Creamery in collaboration with Rustic Designs Flower Farm. Gather your friends for an afternoon of delicious bites from a gourmet cheese grazing table and create your own beautiful floral bouquet with expert guidance.
February 7 – West Central CEO Ice Fishing Tournament
Bundle up and head to the ice for a fun-filled day at the West Central CEO Ice Fishing Tournament. Anglers of all skill levels are welcome. Participants must register, pay the entry fee, sign a waiver, and present a valid fishing license at check-in. Participants must be 18 or older, or registered and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
February 7 – Luminary Hike at Sibley State Park
Experience winter magic under the stars during this peaceful luminary-lit hike at Sibley State Park. Stroll along glowing trails, take in the beauty of the season, and enjoy a serene winter evening in nature.
February 7-8 – Willmar Gun Show
The annual Willmar Gun Show returns to the Willmar Civic Center. General admission is $8 and valid for both days. Women, children under 16, and current military members are admitted free. Door prizes are drawn every half hour throughout the event.
February 10 – Galentine’s Bouquet Night at Foxhole Brewhouse
Grab your besties and head to Foxhole Brewhouse for a creative and relaxed Galentine’s Night. Enjoy a step-by-step class where you’ll design a stunning floral arrangement in shades of pink, red, and purple—no experience necessary.
February 12-15 & 19-22 – The Barn Theatre Presents: Sandy Toes & Salty Kisses
Escape winter with this hilarious farce filled with beachy chaos, big laughs, and classic Barn Theatre charm. Set at the Lovers’ Landing Beach Hotel, this fast-paced comedy blends mystery, romance, and mayhem as secrets unfold and hilarity ensues. Fun for all ages.
February 13-14 – Cabin Fever in New London
Shop, dine, and explore New London during Cabin Fever, featuring special events and discounts at participating stores and restaurants. Don’t miss the 5th Annual Koselig Fest at Goat Ridge Brewing, with live music, beer releases, special food, beer poking, and cozy vibes. New this year, enjoy hot and cold therapy with a barrel sauna by the river. Pre-registration is encouraged.
February 13 – Valentine’s Comedy Show & Dinner
Enjoy an evening of love, laughs, and great food at this Valentine’s Comedy Show and Dinner featuring comedians David Harris and Sherlonda Sharp. A perfect date night with a humorous twist.
February 14 – Scotch Doubles Tournament
Grab a partner and hit the lanes for this fun and festive bowling tournament—a Valentine’s Day tradition with a competitive edge.
February 19-27 – Save Our Tails Online Auction
Support Hawk Creek Animal Shelter during their largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds help care for more than 3,000 animals each year through medical care, spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and community education. Pre-register for free and bid on an incredible selection of baskets and gifts.
February 21 – Spicer Speed 26
Experience fast-paced winter fun on the ice at Spicer Speed 26, an energetic event filled with competition, excitement, and plenty of action for spectators.
February 21 – Stand Up Comedy at Intuition Brewing
Cold weather calls for cold beer and hot comedy. Head to Intuition Brewing for a night of laughs and locally crafted brews.
February 21-22 – Diamond Edge Figure Skating Annual Show
Held at the Willmar Civic Center, this annual show features talented Diamond Edge Figure Skating Club skaters and a special guest performer. Come support these young athletes as they take the ice in a beautifully choreographed performance.
February 22 – Willmar Area Symphonic Orchestra Presents “Masterworks”
Enjoy an evening of powerful and inspiring music with the Willmar Area Symphonic Orchestra. This performance features guest artist Sean Biehn on trombone and promises to be a memorable night of exceptional talent.
February 28 – West Central Week O
Experience the ingenuity of regional robotics teams during this free preseason event. Teams test robots, train drivers, and fine-tune strategies ahead of competition season. Volunteers are welcome—and yes, free lunch is included.
February 28 – Willmar Smash and Bash Pickleball Tournament
Join players and spectators for an exciting day of pickleball competition. The tournament features pool play with all teams advancing to a single-elimination bracket, creating a high-energy day of fun on the courts.

February 28 – Spicer Cabin Fever Market
Shake off the winter blues and shop local at the Spicer Cabin Fever Market. Discover one-of-a-kind handcrafted goods, support local makers and entrepreneurs, and connect with the community in a welcoming, creative atmosphere.
February 28 – 2nd Annual Pins & Putts 2-Person Scramble
This unique event combines two sports in one unforgettable day—18 holes of indoor golf at Willmar Indoor Golf and four games of bowling at Alley on Ash. A party bus transports participants between locations, followed by a private after-party with free food and golf. With a skewed payout structure, everyone has a chance to win.
February 28 – Willmar Community Center Hobby Fair
Explore hobbies, crafts, and creative interests from across the community at this all-ages event celebrating talent and creativity.
