August – The Last Month of Summer

Well, did you fit it all in? Is your summer bucket list complete? No?
Don’t worry, there’s still time to fill that bucket.

Grab the Sand Bucket and head to Sibley State Park beach, New London Mill Pond swim beach, Robbins Island Regional Park in Willmar or one of the 5 Kandiyohi County parks. You’ll love building sand castles and making memories on the beautiful shores of our lakes country.

Put on your Bucket Hat for boating or fishing. Canoe, kayak, pontoon, and fishing boat rentals are available throughout New London, Spicer and Willmar. End the summer with a dinner cruise on the “Danny Boy” with Green Lake Cruises.

Water isn’t your thing? Put on your Brain Bucket and hit the bike trails. The Glacial Lakes State Trail is a 22-mile paved trail from Willmar to Paynesville. Rent a bike in Willmar from one of the BikeWillmar bike hubs and enjoy the sounds of nature as you explore the trails. Or find some off road excitement on the mountain bike trails at Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center by renting one of their fat-tire bikes.

As summer comes to a close think about filling the Donation Bucket at one of the area fundraising events for a cause.
