May 2-4 – AAUW Willmar Used Book Sale
Looking for a good book to read? Then make sure you check out the AAUW (American Association of University Women) annual book sale May 2-4 at the Willmar Community Center. All proceeds fund two women scholarships at Ridgewater College, a donation to the Willmar Civic Scholarship Association for Willmar Senior High, and a contribution to AAUW’s National Fellowship Fund for Higher Education. Let your support impact our future!
May 4 – MACCRAY NHS 5K Walk/Run
MACCRAY National Honor Society is hosting a 5K Walk/Run to raise money for Mental Health Awareness. All proceeds go to Your Wings of Hope in Willmar. All MACCRAY students, staff, families, and the overall community are invited to participate in this walk/run to help support this great cause. While in town, make sure to checkout the City-Wide Garage Sale, Apol’s Harley-Davidson Annual Hog Roast, Homemade Pie & Coffee at the Raymond Community Center, and enjoy a night of live music by Tyme with The Beaches at Cheers.
May 4 – The Kentucky Derby at The Handle Bar
Join the fun at The Strong Garage for a Kentucky Derby party and so much more! Doors will open at 11:00 a.m. as we kick off the day with Bloody Mary and Screw Driver Specials. We’re excited to see everyone break out the big hats and pastels for the best dressed contest. You can also take part in a Buck Euchre Tourney and a hat making bar or just enjoy the live music! After the main race, the party continues at The Handle Bar where Bryce Hegge takes the stage at 8:00 p.m.
May 15 – Cruise Night at the Country Stop
Come see 50 to 100 classic cars and hot rods that are displayed for everyone’s enjoyment. Enjoy an A&W Burger Basket special, live music by CJ Dafoe and door prizes. Fun for the whole family!!
May 16-18 – 530 Farm Girls Spring Sale
It’s a great weekend to check out the many fun vintage finds during the Annual 530 Farm Girls Sale! Check out their Facebook page to see sneak peeks of items that’ll be at the sale!
May 17 – 3rd Annual Raymond Ambulance Big Cup Tourney
Mark your calendars for our 3rd annual Raymond Ambulance Big Cup Golf Tourney at Hawk Creek Country Club! The oversized big cups at each hole make for a unique and fun evening for all ages and experience levels. We’ll have door prizes and a 50/50 cash drawing. All proceeds from this event will go towards our new ambulance rig. Excited to see you there!
May 18 – Creekside Greenhouses Maker’s Market
Besides the flowers in the greenhouses, we will spend the day with several local vendors selling items that are their own creations, you don’t want to miss this!
May 18 – Resorts of Kandiyohi County Exhibit Open House
Come and help us kick off the summer season and celebrate Dickerson’s Lake Florida Resort turning 100! On Saturday, May 18, the Kandiyohi County Historical Society will be having an open house from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The entire complex will be open for you to explore as well as the exhibit opening for “Resorts of Kandiyohi County”. This is a free event and is open to the public.
May 18 – Cinco De Mayo Event
Join the fun on Saturday, May 18th on 4th Street in Downtown Willmar for an evening of live music, food, Vendors, dancing and kids activities. Watch for more details as we get closer to the event.
May 19 – 19th Annual Sunburg Syttende Mai Celebration
Join the town of Sunburg as they celebrate their 19th Annual Syttende Mai Celebration! Come for the tractor pull, quilt raffle, boutique at the Community Center, Sunburg Trolls Car Club Car Display, Sunburg Lakers Baseball Game, Grande Day Parade and more!
May 19 – 2024 Young Artists Concert
The Willmar Area Symphonic Orchestra is celebrating their 66th Anniversary season! Join the celebration on Sunday, May 19th at the Young Artists Concert featuring Charlie Bortnem and Brandon Valladares. There will be a reception to follow honoring our Young Artists and our director, Stephen J. Ramsey. This will be Stephen Ramsey’s last concert with us. It’s going to be a pretty spectacular show…don’t miss it!
May 23 – KRA Speedway Racing Season Opener
Enjoy a night of racing action around the 3/8 mile semi-banked dirt track located on the south side of the historic Kandiyohi County Fairgrounds in Willmar. Watching mudslinging racing at KRA Speedway is a great way to spend your Thursday nights in the summer with family and friends!!!
May 25 – Memorial Day – Law Day 5K
Participate in the annual Memorial Day – Law Day 5K Run/Walk that starts at the Flags of Honor Memorial Park in Willmar and then winds you through Robbins Island Regionals Park. Take advantage of this early morning exercise opporunity that’ll have you enjoying the scenic views and beautiful natural landscape of Robbins Island Regional Park.
May 29 – Willmar Stingers Home Opener
The Willmar Stingers Home Opener against the Badlands Big Stickers takes place May 29th! Enjoy great stadium food and drinks while watching some exciting Northwoods League Baseball. After the home opener stay for some Post-Game Fireworks!
