Where to go
Hike along the Pond View Trail for views of wildflowers and grasses. Climb the Mt. Tom lookout to get a bird’s eye view of tree tops and the surrounding landscape.
What you’ll see
Flowers such as brown-eyed Susan and goldenrod add a touch of yellow to prairie areas. Big Bluestem and Indian Grass continue to mature, adding a tinge of Maroon and Gold to open meadows. Ash, Basswood, Hackberry and many understory trees are beginning to turn and drop their leaves. Woodland vines add a splash of red here and there. Maples have a bit of color in the tree tops.
Kayaks and canoes are available to rent during weekends. Experience a unique view of the park from the serene waters of Lake Andrew.
Leaves are at 10-25% of their peak color, flowers are at 25-50% and the prairie grasses are at 50-75% of their peak color.
