The hard killing frost has caused a lot of the leaves to die and turn brown. Wind has stripped most color from the landscape. Some Oaks are still clinging to their orange and bronze leaves but most of the over story is bare or brown.
While most of the colorful leaves are now on the ground, this is a great time to hike and view wildlife not easily seen through leaf-filled trees. Also consider birding for late fall migrants and northern species just starting to arrive, searching for that perfect pumpkin at a pumpkin patch and choosing your favorite apple variety at an apple orchard.
