Fishing Report for 12-13-16

Ice fishing season is here for the brave! Ice is covering many of the smaller prairie lakes ranging from 2-6 inches in some spots. Ice is seldom the same thickness over a single body of water; it can be two feet thick in one place and one inch thick a few yards away. Check the ice at least every 150 feet. And with our recent snow fall, please keep in mind that white ice or “snow ice” is only about half as strong as new clear ice. The cold temperatures forecasted for this week should help build safer ice for those anxious to get out on the ice.
