Fishing Report for 1-3-17

What a great weekend it was for ice fishing in the Willmar Lakes Area! The weather was great and the fish were biting! Northern pike and walleye were the catch of the day at Long Lake, Green Lake and Nest Lake. Mainly perch, sunfish and crappies were being taken from Big Kandiyohi Lake, Diamond Lake and Eagle Lake. Most area lakes are ranging from 9-12 inches of solid ice, but please check the ice often as it can vary in different parts of the lake. With this arctic blast we are having this week, we are hoping to have at least 12 inches of ice on the lakes by the weekend. Check with the local bait shops for more up-to-date ice depths before you go out.
