Fishermen have continued to do well in the Willmar Lakes Area! The crappies and sunfish have become the hot ticket! Diamond Lake, Eagle Lake, Green Lake, Lake Florida and Lake Andrew have reported many large crappies and sun fish. Walleyes are being caught as well on these lakes. With the recent warm up, ice conditions will be questionable. The shallow prairie lakes, including Lake Wakanda, Big Kandiyohi Lake, Foot Lake and Willmar Lake, have approximately 6 – 12 inches of ice and many open spots. The deeper lakes, including Lake Florida, Green Lake, Eagle Lake and Diamond Lake have approximately 12 – 15 inches of ice but these lakes do have heaves. Please, continue to use caution when heading out on the lakes.
